    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Supplier Quality Engineer Co-op will support ABIOMED’s primary technical contacts with all US based suppliers, assist with Quality team’s supplier initiatives, nonconformance investigations and Quality Inspection alignment. This role is a key technical resource for the company’s continued growth, and is a great opportunity for someone to make a difference at one of the fastest-growing medical technology companies, focused on recovering hearts and saving lives.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Partner a diverse team of Design Engineers, Development Engineers, Quality Engineers, Regulatory Affairs, Marketing, and Clinical.
    • Provide quality engineering support in the development and manufacturing of new and existing disposable medical devices
    • Support MRB analysis of defective components in Incoming Inspection.
    • Resolve incoming inspection yield issues by driving tighter vendor process capabilities and ensuring appropriate internal drawing tolerances
    • Monitor and analyze production information to support risk management and to provide direction for corrective and preventive actions and/or process improvement activities (CAPA)
    • Work with manufacturing engineering and supply chain to ensure necessary process controls and validations are in place and best practices are followed (GMP)

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Student pursuing an degree in Engineering or a related field.
    • Familiarity with project management terms and concepts, ability to prioritize tasks is a plus
    • Ability to communicate ideas and information clearly, effectively and frequently
    • Execute tasks in a timely manner without direct supervision
    • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
    • Detail-oriented, highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks.
    • Ability to work independently as well as on a team.
    • Must have completed two semesters in school by the start of the co-op (rising Sophomore or above)
    • Must be familiar with basic statistics concepts/terminology (If not in an engineering application- other roles are acceptable (i.e. budget management from a club, or any experience working with numbers)
