    The Surgical Robotics & Controls Intern helps the development of a sophisticated robotic surgical system called the Monarch Platform. They will be mentored and working closely with other cross-functional engineers to characterize, test, and develop various robotics & control functions, including but not limited to robotic software, for required functionalities, performance, and safety. We are looking for candidates with strong hardware and software skills that are deeply motivated to impact lives of patients through advanced robotic technologies!

     

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Work under mentorship with cross-functional engineers to characterize, test, and develop robotics and control functions
    • Participate in design discussions and reviews
    • Develop robotic software to implement required functionalities, safety measures, and modeling or analysis needs
    • Characterize function performances with test setup, data collection, and analysis
  • Qualifications
    • Actively enrolled Undergraduate Senior, Master’s or PhD student seeking a degree in controls, mechatronics, robotics or equivalent
    • Summer Interns must have a graduation date after August of 2021
    • Minimum GPA of 2.8
    • Understanding of C+ + Programming, and Matlab or Python
    • Hands on experience with robotic hardware
    • Knowledge in one or more of these areas: serial manipulator kinematics, motion planning, real-time physics simulation software, robot dynamics, haptics feedback, admittance control, impedance control, motor control is a plus
