Auris Health, Inc., part of the Johnson & Johnson family of companies, is redefining medical intervention. By combining advancements in medical robotics, instrumentation, navigation and data science, Auris is building a platform technology capable of expanding the applicability of robotics to a spectrum of medical procedures.

In this role, the Co-op / Intern will join the Systems/Robotics test team to complete a project focused on conception, development, prototyping, and/or improvement for System or sub-system level product performance test benchtop model or methodology. In addition, the intern may partake in team responsibilities related to design verification testing, test development, and/or investigation.

Job Responsibilities:

Primary responsibility will be to conceive, develop, prototype, or improve a bench test model or method for use in future product evaluation.

Other duties that may be assigned as appropriate:

• Participate in design verification activities, including formal testing, dry running, and feasibility.
• Participate in broader team's test method development activities - e.g. measurement system analysis, correlation studies, fixture development.
• Perform experiments and analysis to support investigations.
• Communicate status and takeaways from daily activities and recommend improvements to team members
• Maintain documentation and traceability on test records, such as datasheets, training records, and laboratory notebook records.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Currently pursuing a B.S. in an Engineering field (minimum required)
• Experience working and collaborating within a team required.
• Educational exposure to at least 1 programming language required. Proficiency in MATLAB or python scripting strongly preferred.
• Prior job experience in medical device product testing a plus.
• Education / proficiency in use of statistical analysis software a plus
• Knowledge of fabrication processes (machining, 3D printing) a plus
• Demonstrated success and courage in communicating concepts, ideas, and knowledge as well as collaborating with individuals and within teams.
• Habitually self-motivated, curious, and failure-seeking. Applies critical big picture thinking in completing tasks.
• Must be highly organized with the ability to work on multiple projects/tasks simultaneously and remain agile given changing priorities.
• Practices attention to detail, and respect for documentation accuracy.

Work Environment

This position may require onsite work in an engineering lab, with the balance of work from home. Aside from basic office equipment, the engineering lab contains specialized equipment and materials as well as personal protective equipment.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear in moderately loud environments and operate machinery and equipment as well as infrequently lift heavy equipment up to 50 lbs.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of operation are flexible Monday through Friday, generally 8-9 hours each day. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
