    Job Description

    Market the Jobs for America’s Graduates opportunity to businesses and community stakeholders. Develop work experience, internship and full and part-time opportunities for JAG students. Develop mentoring opportunities for JAG students. Develop guest speaker and field trip opportunities and build relationships, systems and programs to ensure the college acceptance and matriculation of JAG graduates from high school to college and other post-secondary programs. Implement administrative and reporting requirements of the JAG program.

    1.Market the Jobs for America’s Graduates opportunity to businesses and community stakeholders.

    a.Prepare and implement a marketing strategy for providing outreach and information to businesses and community stakeholders.

    b. Create a specific marketing message with the goal of building positive relationships that lead to specific action by the targeted audience.

    c.Contact and develop relationships with businesses, post-secondary and other training organizations, community and faith-based organizations, military and other entities as appropriate.

    d.Contact and schedule face-to -face presentations with businesses and community stakeholders.

    2.Develop work experience, internship and full and part-time opportunities for JAG students.

    a.Meet with JAG Specialists and JAG students to identify student interests, aptitudes and career goals to facilitate placement into appropriate work experiences, internships and jobs

    b.Negotiate, with appropriate businesses and community organizations, the provision of work experience or internships and other off-site activities requiring contractual agreements.

    c.Provide individualized job development activities for JAG students who are looking for full and part-time job opportunities.

    d.Monitor JAG students’ progress in work experience, internship and job experiences, pursuing remedial actions as appropriate.

    3.Develop mentoring opportunities for JAG students.

    a.Identify businesses, organizations and resources in the community to develop a network of mentors to enter one-on-one or group mentor relationships with JAG students.

    b.Coordinate and carry out mentor background checks, orientation and training sessions.

    c.Record mentor profiles in access database and utilize profile information to match mentors and mentees.

    4.Develop guest speaker and field trip opportunities and build relationships, systems and programs to ensure the college acceptance and matriculation of JAG graduatesfrom high school to college and other post-secondary programs.

    a.Establish ongoing partnerships with corporations, businesses and organizations to strengthen student learning and community engagement within the JAG schools.

    b.Coordinate guest speakers and field trip visits for JAG classes and individual JAG students. Assist JAG Specialists with scheduling and coordination of volunteer opportunities for students within the community

    c.Build relationships and partnerships with college admission counselors to create open lines of communication and sharing of information.

    5.Implement administrative and reporting requirements of the JAG program.

    a.Initiate correspondence, appropriate forms and requests, and agreements pertinent to the provision of JAG services.

    b.Present forms and requests for approval as appropriate, and ensure the transmittal of applicable documents to the corporate office.

    c.Provide JAG Specialists with work experience, internship, placement and mentor data weekly to be included in the eNDMS data tracking system.

    d.Provide activity and progress reports as assigned.

    Education and Experience Requirements

    •Bachelor’s degree or evidence of certification or licensure in a related field required.

    •Two years experience working with disadvantaged youth preferred.

     

    Skills and Abilities Required:

    •Bilingual ability in Spanish/English preferred.

    •Must have effective oral and written communications skills•Ability to work with individuals at various socio-economic levels.

    •Knowledge of area education systems and community resources available to youth.

    •Ability to effectively present information to management, public groups and students and their parents.

    Additional Information

    •Work is performed both in an office environment and outside.

    •Subject to long periods of sitting and exposure to computer screen.

    •Driving/sitting for prolonged periods of time.

    •Occasional exposure to adverse weather conditions.

    •Unscheduled evening and weekend work may be needed to meet the requirements of the job.
