    GENERAL SUMMARY

     

    The Manager, Donor Relations & Individual Giving, in alignment with Shirley Ryan AbilityLab’s Vision and the strategic goals of the Advancement Office, is responsible for the organization of the Advancement Office process for recognizing and retaining donors, and assisting in the cultivation of new donor prospects. The Manager, Donor Relations & Individual Giving will also assist in activities related to attracting donors to participate in the annual appeal and events. The Manager, Donor Relations & Individual giving will be a key partner to the Marketing team for communications, digital presence, and development of donor-centric collateral.

    The Manager, Donor Relations & Individual Giving will consistently demonstrate support of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab statement of Vision, Mission and Core Values by striving for excellence, contributing to the team efforts and showing respect and compassion for patients and their families, fellow employees, and all others with whom there is contact at or in the interest of the institute.

    PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    THE MANAGER, DONOR RELATIONS & INDIVIDUAL GIVING WILL:

     

    1. Manage a comprehensive stewardship and recognition program that is effectively integrated with all Advancement Office goals including Annual Giving.

    2. Develop and implement an efficient and effective system to inform and engage, ensuring donors at each level are effectively recognized, thanked and connected to the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab mission.

    3. In collaboration with Advancement team and Shirley Ryan AbilityLab Leadership, develop the donor recognition policy and implement it.

    4. Create and manage Advancement Office stewardship calendar, draft copy and related processes; collaborate with Advancement staff to ensure the quality and timeliness of stewardship materials including endowment, annual and special reports, and other materials as requested.

    5. Direct and manage Advancement communications and events calendar.

    6. Manage appropriate recognition of donors, gifts and/or grants in Shirley Ryan AbilityLab publications or other printed materials and communications including online.

    7. Assist fundraisers in executing cultivation strategies for annual and major donors.

    8. Serve as the department’s primary contact for donor support, including the advancement email inbox and general phone line.

    9. Manage the donor recognition and acknowledgement process on behalf of the Chief Advancement Officer.

    10. Assist in execution of direct mail campaigns (including development, testing, and reporting) and develop all online collateral for these campaigns. Work with Marketing Manager to continually improve practices and results.

    11. In collaboration with the Database Manager and Marketing Manager, manage Advancement’s online presence including creating donation pages, webpages, events, creating content and sending emails, and troubleshooting issues.

    12. Act as the primary liaison to Marketing and lead project management.

      1. Collaborate with the Marketing department and Advancement staff to oversee the development of materials specific to fundraising goals and campaigns, such as newsletters and other donor-centric communications.
      2. Manage priorities and timelines for partnership projects.
      3. Provide oversight of stewardship collateral management and Advancement inventory.
    13. Provide operational and leadership support for events and special initiatives, including customized donor engagements and volunteer opportunities.

      1. Support logistics planning of Advancement events including working with event owners to create and manage project timelines, budgets and run-of-show program details.
      2. Lead event-related sourcing and contracting processes, including catering, room reservations, transportation, and audio-visual services.
      3. Manage event logistics on-site, including coordination with catering, facilities and security teams, event production, speakers, event staff, and additional activities, as applicable.
      4. Lead third-party fundraising efforts, including providing event support when applicable and oversight of the third-party fundraising platforms.
    14. Manage own portfolio of annual donors who consistently give between $1,000 and $5,000. Collaborate with others with similar portfolios.

    15. Perform all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.

     

    REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

     

    1. Reports directly to the Executive Director, Advancement Operations.

     

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED

     

    1. A professional level of knowledge in generally acquired through the completion of a Bachelor’s Degree; Masters Degree preferred
    2. Minimum of 5 years of related experience, preferably in healthcare fundraising, non-profit, project or events management working on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.
    3. Continues to develop professional expertise, applying organization policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues.
    4. Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize multiple projects and assignments effectively and efficiently.
    5. Demonstrate writing proficiency via prior experience or writing samples.
    6. Able to perform assignments by receiving general instructions on routine work, and detailed instructions on new projects or assignments.
    7. Able to exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
    8. Able to build stable working relationships with multidisciplinary team.
    9. Working proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite; Raiser’s Edge database and Adobe Acrobat Pro experience preferred.

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS

     

    1. Normal office environment with little or no exposure to dust or extreme temperature.
