    GENERAL SUMMARY

    The Patient Safety and Accreditation Coordinator assists the Director, Patient Safety and Accreditation to promote, support and evaluate patient safety and performance improvement activities.  Provides assistance with strategy and direction for reports that integrate data analysis related to performance improvement indicators and overall mission effectiveness.  Assists with other related department activities including patient safety, improvement efforts, team facilitation, and ongoing accreditation readiness as directed.  Disseminates best practices related to quality patient care.

    PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    THE PATIENT SAFETY AND ACCREDITATION COORDINATOR:

    1. Identifies, collects, analyzes and interprets data to identify patterns and trends related to patient safety and medical staff quality monitors and projects.
    2. Collaborates with staff and management to identify new opportunities for data collection and benchmarking as a means of assessing quality and safety.
    3. Assists with analysis and interpretation of The Joint Commission standards, and reviews by other agencies (e.g. Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH)).
    4. Creates reports appropriate to customer needs and level of understanding.
    5. Disseminates data to leaders, managers, physicians, and staff as appropriate.
    6. Plans and prepares presentations for various meetings including those of the Medical Care Committee, and the Patient Safety and Risk Management Committee.  
    7. Supports root cause analysis and proactive risk assessment teams using the P-D-C-A model, and/or other concepts and tools.
    8. Collaborates with Director to identify opportunities for enhancement of patient safety, performance improvement and accreditation activities.
    9. Utilizes evidence-based research and data to implement best practices, performance improvement and cost/organizational efficiencies.
    10. Perform all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.

    REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

    1. Reports directly to the Director, Patent Safety and Accreditation

      

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED

    1. Bachelor’s degree in nursing or other healthcare related disciplines (PT,OT, SLP)
    2. Minimum 2 years of clinical experience, rehabilitation experience preferred.
    3. Current IL license required.
    4. Analytical ability to use data, literature searches to identify potential opportunities to improve care and recommend action plans.
    5. Experience in developing research studies and implementing research findings preferred.
    6. Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with a variety of clinical and administrative staff, patients, and others throughout SRAlab system and outside the organization.
    7. Computer skills in word processing, data management software, data analysis, and reporting.
    8. Knowledge of criteria based study methodology as well as excellent writing skills necessary to perform duties.
    9. Experience in project design and management preferred.

  • Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field or a combination of education and work experience.
    • At least 3 years of experience in managing 500+ Windows servers (versions 2008 and higher)
    • At least 3 years of experience in managing 50+ VMWARE servers through VCenter
    • Working knowledge of Office 365/Azure
    • Extensive technical knowledge in supported Microsoft technologies and VMWARE
    • Knowledge of Microsoft SCCM administration a plus
    • Fluent in English, German language skills are beneficial
