  • Responsibilities

     

    The Project Coordinator will plan, coordinate and implement clinical research projects at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab. Contributes to multiple clinical research projects involving therapeutics, medical devices, and physical therapy modalities. The Project Coordinator will also help with data analysis as needed, and develop and implement new policies and procedures governing the conduct of clinical research at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.

    PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

     

     

    1. Manage daily operational aspects of clinical research projects, including protocol development, regulatory document preparation, IRB submissions, study recruitment, preparation for study visits, conducting experiments, documentation of study results in case report forms, perform follow-up calls with participants, and study participant follow-up procedures.
    2. Interview research subjects for recruitment, study retention, and data collection.
    3. Assist with analysis of qualitative and quantitative data.
    4. Prepare reports for Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, Northwestern University, Clinicaltrials.gov and study sponsors (i.e. federal, foundation and pharmaceutical companies) when necessary.
    5. Assist with tracking and reporting of hours and expenses. May assist with managing project budgets as needed.
    6. Ensure project documents are complete and current and sent to the appropriate party.
    7. Perform all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.

     

    REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

    1. Reports directly to the appropriate Principal Investigator or Project Manager.

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    1. Normal office environment with little or no exposure to dust or extreme temperature.

     

    Required Skills Required Experience

     

    1. Bachelor’s Degree in a biological, physical science, engineering, or related field.
    2. Prior experience as a clinical research coordinator is preferred but not absolutely required.
    3. Knowledge of basic computer hardware in addition to software such as Microsoft Office, statistical programs such as Stata or SPSS, and/or relevant engineering or mathematical programs such as Matlab, or Python, as appropriate. Familiarity with signal processing and machine learning techniques preferred.
    4. Knowledge of current Good Clinical Practice (cGCP) and its application in clinical research.
    5. Demonstrated experience with project planning in a complex, regulated environment.
    6. Communication and interpersonal skills necessary to interact on a daily basis with internal/external customers.
    7. Advanced organizational skills necessary to efficiently prioritize and complete a variety of tasks and provide leadership when required.
    8. Ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting in order to maximize quality and efficiency of operations.
    9. Ability to understand clinical study protocols and assist study investigators with various tasks when necessary.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Working towards Associates Degree or Journeyman Tool & Die Card.
    • Haas & Mazak experience preferred.
    • Be capable of reading blueprints to perform required tasks.
    • A strong mechanical inclination with prior experience with equipment set-up/operation/maintenance/calibration.
    • Effective with use of computers, G-Code, CNC, CAM.
    • Good organizational skills with sound written and verbal communication skills.
