    GENERAL SUMMARY

     

    Under general supervision, plans, coordinates, facilitates a program of art therapy in order to note progression in exploring emotions and resolving personal issues, cognition and hand/motor function in-patients adjusting to disability.  Confers with rehabilitation team in developing and implementing an art therapy program.  Budgets program funds with supervisor, and is responsible for inventory, storage, and replacement of equipment and supplies.

    PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    1. Assesses patients' emotional and functional status.  Confers with physicians and other treatment team members as appropriate in establishing individually tailored and/or group patient therapy goals consistent with other therapy goals.  Demonstrates competency in understanding the growth and development of child, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients as measured by specific performance standards and as described by department/unit policies and procedures.  Demonstrates the ability to interpret growth and development related information to assure patient needs are met.
    2. Budgets program funds and is responsible for art supply inventory, storage and equipment.  In doing so, contacts vendors, evaluates products and recommends acquisition of supplies and equip9ment.
    3. Functions as an active member of a rehabilitation team.  Attends meetings and conferences, and confers with other team members.
    4. Conducts one on one-art therapy sessions.  Co-treats with interdisciplinary team as appropriate.  Coordinates art related events and projects within the department/Institute as deemed appropriate and schedule permits.
    5. Maintains current documentation pertaining how art therapy works with patients.  Contributes information and progress reports for use in treatment/team meetings.
    6. Facilitates an art studio to enhance relaxation, leisure skills, and to develop a hobby.
    7. Functions as an active member of the therapeutic recreation department.  Contributes art related program suggestions.  Communicates effectively with therapists in regard to patients' involvement and progress in art services.

     

    OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    1. Maintains and enhances knowledge of current professional standards and practices by reading appropriate professional literature, attending meetings, workshops, and inservice education programs.
    2. Perform all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of SRAlab.

     

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED

     

    1. Knowledge of current therapy and practice in art therapy at a level normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in Fine Art and successful completion of a clinical training in a clinical institution.  A.T.R. Certification (Registered Art Therapist) preferred.
    2. Approximately 3-6 months on-the-job training to gain expertise in program design, psychological/medical aspects of patients, and to gain knowledge of art work typical of various diagnostic groups.  Must successfully complete RICIS training program and utilize RICIS in performing job duties as needed.
    3. Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with patients and families in providing therapy and with physicians an other treatment team members in gathering and exchanging patient progress information.
    4. Analytical skills needed to collect, interpret and analyze artwork, observe and note significant patient behaviors, evaluate effectiveness of program and administer budget associated with the program.

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS

     

    1. Normal patient care environment with little or no exposure to dust, noise or extreme temperature.
    2. Exposure to moderately adverse working conditions in performing certain patient care activities.
    3. Occasional exposure to infectious diseases when working with patients.
    4. Evening and weekend flexibility required.

  • Qualifications

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

    • S. Engineering, advanced degree a plus.
    • Strong planning and organizational skills with ability to prioritize, make decisions and manage multiple projects.
    • Basic knowledge and understanding of assembly and manufacturing processes.
    • Must have the ability to communicate effectively across organizational levels, both in written and verbal form.
    • Ability to travel to travel to suppliers, manufacturing plants, and customer locations to support development and launch activities.

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

    • 3-5+ years of experienced in emissions/ exhaust systems
