    GENERAL SUMMARY

     

    The Clinical Applications Analyst II is responsible for providing support for applications that are clinically focused as well as serving as the liaison between IS, the clinical departments and the physicians.   Responsible for formatting, designing, and building relevant clinical content into appropriate electronic workflows to provide end-users with knowledge at the point of care.  Works with clinical areas in order to elicit, analyze, communicate and validate requirements for clinical applications.

    Principal Responsibilities

     

    The Clinical Applications Analyst II will:

     

    1. Assist with installing clinical application upgrades and enhancements through collaboration with internal departments and external vendors, developing conversion plans for system changes including communication and maintenance testing.
    2. Provide consultation on process analysis and design.
    3. Support clinical application projects by assisting with identifying requirements, determining objectives, identifying stakeholders, recommending product solutions, and establishing budgets and timelines.
    4. Translate user requirements into system design, ensuring systems deliver the desired capabilities to meet the needs of the users.
    5. Participate in the design and deployment of foreign system interfaces between 3rd-party systems.
    6. Configure Cerner modules.
    7. Collaborate with IS staff and users to develop test plans, including integration and user acceptance testing, to verify configuration satisfies design requirements.
    8. Develop documentation for training, maintenance and support, including problem resolution and escalation decision trees.
    9. Assist with development of plans and materials for employee education including the evaluation of training for effectiveness.
    10. May assist with providing user training
    11. May serve on appropriate Shirley Ryan AbilityLab committees.
    12. Perform all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.

     

    Required Skills

     

     

    Required Experience

     

    1. Undergraduate degree in information systems or clinical care (e.g. RN, PT, OT, etc.).
    2. Minimum of 2 years experience in an Information Systems Applications Analysts role or equivalent experience.
    3. Minimum of 2 years experience with clinical system tools (e.g. Cerner Millennium).
    4. Knowledge of rehabilitation healthcare processes in one or more area.
    5. Experience working within Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office tools.
    6. Personal computer skills necessary to prepare project plans, presentations, flow charts, test plans, etc.
    7. Firm knowledge of workflow in one or more area and ability to work independently with users to define how technology can drive business processes.
    8. Analytical skills necessary to resolve issues and/or increase operational efficiency of the patient care process.
    9. Ability to pay close attention to details when designing, implementing, documenting and maintaining system functions.
    10. Interpersonal skills necessary to actively listen and communicate effectively with IS peers and user community to deliver and support systems based on user needs.
    11. Critical thinking and reasoning skills to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternate solutions, conclusions and approaches to problems.
    12. Ability to support one or more areas of Shirley Ryan AbilityLab existing clinical system applications (i.e. Cerner Millennium)
    13. Ability to manage small-scale systems implementation projects
    14. Knowledge of Cerner Command Language (CCL) for troubleshooting.
    15. Ability and willingness to learn new tools and Healthcare Information Systems (HIS) to be identified as part of Shirley Ryan AbilityLab future core applications toolset. Example technologies include new Cerner modules.

     

    Reporting Relationships

     

    1. Reports directly to the Director, IT and Clinical Applications

     

    Working Conditions

     

    1. Normal office environment with little or no exposure to dust or extreme temperature.
