Job Description
Oversees all evening (4pm-12 Midnight) shift operations in the absence of the Executive Director/Administrator. Monitors, troubleshoots and responds to issues within all departments throughout the Assisted Living community. Develops and maintains positive working relationships with all staff, Residents, family members, business associates and the general public.
This role is is great for someone who has future plans to become a Nursing Home Administrator or Assisted Living Executive Director and this experience compliments a BA or MA in Public Health Administration well. We look for candidates with community based managerial/supervisor experience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Begin every shift with a full site inspection both inside and outside looking for safety, regulatory, cleanliness and neatness violations as well as inappropriate placement of furniture and decorations.
- Ad-hoc management of the entire facility’s operations, including physical space, staff, resident relations, community relations, marketing, food service, maintenance, housekeeping, activities and wellness
- Maintaining regular and effective communication with the Executive Director regarding all activities and incidents occurring during any shift covered by the Assistant Administrator.
- Oversee the management all buildings and grounds in a manner consistent with management policies, safety considerations and regulatory requirements through oversight and follow up of the preventative maintenance systems and programs and frequent inspections.
- Maintain and update knowledge of governmental statutes and regulation affecting operations of the facility in order to meet continued licensure, registration, and certification of the facility.
- Assist Executive Director with interviewing, hiring and training of personnel as requested.
- Assist Executive Director, and guide Department Directors, with corrective action/disciplinary counseling of staff as necessary.
- Assist Executive Director in monitoring quality and maintenance of staffing levels, employee files, and adherence to Federal, State, and local labor regulations. Delegate responsibility and authority to other facility staff where appropriate.
- With the Executive Director’s guidance, develop and maintain an overall understanding of community and departmental budgets.
- Assist in maintaining staff morale and loyalty at a high level, by helping to coordinate, and participating in, employee events, keeping staff well informed and interpreting personnel policies appropriately.
- Create and maintain an “open-door” atmosphere for staff by allowing the time to be available for meetings, conferences and concerns.
- Assist in creating and maintaining an environment for staff personnel to grow professionally.
- Maintain an active relationship with the Residents through individual and group interaction. Meet regularly with the Residents.
- Create and maintain an atmosphere of caring, stability, and peace where the personal dignity of Residents is supported and the Residents are encouraged to live as closely as possible/practical to how they had been accustomed.
- Fully responsible for proper emergency and evacuation procedures and responses to Residents, their families and employees, ensuring community readiness for all cases of emergency.
- Work closely with Executive Director in support of any community marketing initiatives.
- Active participation with Executive Director in the regulatory processes of both the legislative and governmental agencies.
- Represent the facility and the Company in a positive manner maintaining an image of social propriety and professional excellence.
- May cover other shifts as requested and as dictated by the needs of the Residents and the community.
- All other duties as assigned by the Executive Director, and/or the Senior Vice President of Operations and/or Corporate or Regional Director(s).
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess good communication skills, personality and professionalism to be a positive brand ambassador for the Bristal
- Understanding of the Department of Health regulations regarding Assisted Living in the state of employment.
- Possess understanding, patience and tact in dealing with staff, Residents and their families.
- Management and general administrative experience in health care, residential/community based living, Group Home or senior living setting. At least one year of related supervisory experience preferred.
- Bachelors or Master’s Degree with emphasis on long-term care or Public Health Administration, Geriatrics, Management or Business preferred, or the anticipated attainment of such degree(s).
