MATERIALS MANAGER
LEAR CORPORATION – HAMMOND IN
SUMMARY
The Materials Manager will be responsible for the materials management function relating to the planning, procurement, storage, controlling, logistics and distribution of materials and products to meet Company objectives and customer requirements.
DUTIES:
DRIVE/SUSTAIN BEST-IN CLASS INVENTORY CONTROL.
Utilize Plan For Every Part (PFEP) to optimize on-hand inventory levels and targeted Days On Hand (DOH) while minimizing total Excess and Obsolete (E&O).
Assure sustainable shop floor organization for all material with respect to receiving, put away, and line replenishment.
Command all aspects of proper Cycle Counting per the Division procedure to identify, understand, explain, and rapidly address material’s variances.
Control Engineering Change activity through proper multi-functional collaboration, database management, communication and physical implementation.
Work with Finance Team to forecast accurate materials cost and month ending inventory values required to meet DOH goal.
Execute wall to wall Physical Inventories semi-annually within acceptable absolute and net balance on hand variances.
ASSURE EFFICIENT, TIMELY, AND ACCURATE MATERIAL RELEASE MANAGEMENT (CUSTOMER THROUGH THE LEAR SUPPLY CHAIN).
Analyze Customer release data to identify potential current and future constraints.
Provide appropriate and timely Customer Portal responses, as required.
Notify supply base of customer release changes impacting the Lear supplier release and obtain verification on the ability to meet current release requirements.
Maintain 100% supplier EDI relationship (Lear outbound 830/862 and supplier inbound 856 ASN) for efficient data flow and visibility.
PRESERVE COMPLETE COMPLIANCE WITH ALL INTERNAL/EXTERNAL AUDIT REQUIREMENTS, AND REPORT PLANT MATERIALS KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI’S) TO DIVISION AS SPECIFIED.
Understand and adhere to Lear’s internal audit requirements which will also result in compliance with external Sarbanes-Oxley, TS16949 and ISO14001 demands.
Own KPI results, drive continuous improvement and action plans, report KPI information weekly to Division through the on-line database.
ACHIEVE OPTIMAL INBOUND/OUTBOUND FREIGHT SPEND AND MANAGE PREMIUM FREIGHT TO 100% RECOVERABLE (NOT PLANT FAULT).
Work directly with Corporate Logistics to help properly execute the inbound freight network design, resulting in optimal cost per unit freight for the plant.
Align the material release system with the network designed freight routings to allow supplier and carrier success in achieving optimal results for Lear.
Manage Premium Freight with a zero-tolerance mindset driving all associated costs back to the source while adhering to the Corporate Premium Transportation Authorization procedure.
Optimize supplier component packaging through Purchasing and Corporate Packaging to assure efficient truck utilization and space savings in the plant.
Audit freight billing to insure proper payment to carrier base and protect Lear from improper carrier billing.
MOTIVATE TEAM AND ALIGN EMPLOYEES AROUND ORGANIZATIONS GOALS.
Host weekly staff meetings with all team members.
Review corporate and plant level goals with department to ensure a good understanding of each.
Regularly communicate goals and progress versus goals.
Maintain current staffing requirements (Planners, Schedulers, Drivers, Analyst).
Work to maintain positive management/employee relationships.
BUILD A MATERIALS TEAM OF 90% A PLAYERS WHO GET RESULT IN THEIR ROLE AND PERSONIFY THE LEAR LEADERSHIP MODEL.
Review Quarterly Talking Points with all Materials Team associates.
Do not compromise on talent, and push team to do the same. Hire and retain A players, develop B and redeploy/remove C players.
Track and report planner’s monthly results by parts and suppliers.
