Janssen R&D is recruiting for a Translational DMPK intern for the Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) department, located in San Diego, CA.
The DMPK department is a critical part of the Preclinical Sciences and Translational Safety organization in Janssen R&D and is committed to the delivery of high-quality clinical candidates in all Therapeutic Area (TA) discovery teams. We are currently seeking an outstanding individual to join our Translational DMPK group as an intern for the summer of 2023 for a project focused on studying the interaction of drug metabolizing enzymes and transporters (DMETs) with bifunctional protein degraders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan and conduct experiments to address project specific questions
Perform laboratory functions including sample handling, buffer preparation, enzymatic reactions, molecular biology techniques such as cell culture, LC-MS/MS and HRMS
Perform data analysis and present key scientific findings
EDUCATION:
Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or other life science related field
Must be enrolled in university during the internship period
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
REQUIRED:
Previous hands-on laboratory experience
Candidates must be self-motivated, organized, and have excellent problem-solving skills
Skilled in utilization of computer programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
PREFERRED:
Understanding and/or experience with mass spectrometry
Experience handling cells and/or sub-cellular fractions
