  • Responsibilities

    This position reports to the Head Coach to assist in the overall development and execution of the Women’s Rowing program, including, but not limited to, developing and implementing training and technical systems, daily practice and evaluation systems, the academic and athletic development of student-athletes, identifying and recruiting athletes that will grow the program, engagement with alumni, and fundraising efforts.

    QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
    • Ability to collaborate and maintain positive professional relationships with student-athletes, families, staff, and alumni.
    • Ability to identify and successfully recruit talented prospective student-athletes for the sport of rowing.
    • Demonstrate self-direction and motivation with the ability to work independently and work under pressure.
    • Strong administrative skills including the ability to prioritize, organize, and budget.
    • Provides leadership and instruction in the personal and athletic development of student-athletes, including mentoring and providing learning opportunities to team members in academic, disciplinary, and personal matters.
    • Assists the head coach in monitoring the eligibility status and academic progress of student-athletes.
    • Works with the head coach and equipment manager to initiate and coordinate the selection, purchase, fitting, and maintenance of team equipment; to include uniforms, athletic equipment, and supplies.
    • Assists the head coach in developing and implementing strategies for motivating student-athletes to perform at maximum levels as both individuals and a team.
    • Works closely with the strength and conditioning and sports medicine staff to ensure that student-athletes are physically prepared for practice and competition.
    • Compiles data and reports in a timely fashion when requested by the head coach or any senior-level administrator.
    • Ability to handle a fast-paced work environment and make quick decisions with safety in mind.
    • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusivity and to serving the needs of a culturally and educationally diverse and inclusive community with diplomacy and tact.
    • Knowledge and commitment to University, Conference and NCAA regulations
    • Ability to successfully pass the NCAA recruiting exam.
    • As this position requires operation of University vehicles and traveling for recruiting purposes, the possession and maintenance of a valid Florida driver's license and acceptable driving record is required.

    Salary Grade: 5

     

    Required Skills

    • Ability to teach, coach, mentor and inspire novice and varsity student-athletes up through graduation.
    • Assist with current recruiting strategy that leads to the identification and recruitment of student athletes who contribute to the growth of the program, can compete successfully on the NCAA Division I level and can succeed academically and graduating.
    • Attend all competitions and practices unless directed to other tasks by the head coach and teach student-athletes proper skills and skill development in their sport.
    • Meet regularly with Head Coach to ensure clear understanding and dialogue of all aspects of the program.
    • Prepare travel logistics for Men’s and Women’s Rowing under the guidance of full-time staff.
    • Assist with all administrative duties of the program including alumni relations, scheduling, special events planning, regatta planning, recruiting and team travel, etc.
    • Assist with social media marketing plan and the promotion of both Men’s and Women’s Rowing program.
    • Assist the Head Coach in the development of safe and productive practices and races. 
    • OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED BY HEAD COACH OR SENIOR ADMINISTRATOR

     

    Required Experience

    • Rowing experience with an intercollegiate varsity rowing program and/or national rowing team
    • Demonstrated recruiting success at the collegiate or club level rowing program
    • A minimum of one-year coaching experience at an NCAA intercollegiate rowing program, or two years as a head coach with a competitive club level team.
    • US Rowing Level I or II preferred.

     

    Completed COVID-19 Vaccine status required
