POSITION SUMMARY

The Cardiothoracic Surgery PA works closely with the supervising physician to coordinate a course of treatment for patients: perform histories, physical exams, pre and postoperative care, patient education, and discharge. The Cardiothoracic Surgery PA will also perform procedures such as first assist in surgery, vein harvesting, and the placement and removal of chest tubes.

• Demonstrated expertise in cardiothoracic surgery: Knowledgeable regarding a Cardiothoracic Surgery PA scope of practice.
• Able to perform duties as first assist in surgery.
• Demonstrated expertise in endoscopic vein harvest.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal and conflict resolution abilities.
• Independent performer.

Required Experience

• Current California Physician Assistant license
• Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant School
• One to three (1-3) years direct patient care clinical experience.
• One to three (1-3) years of surgical first assist experience
• Evidence of continuing education and self-development to support license requirements
• Board Certification: Board certified or board eligible
