    MISSION / SUMMARY:

    The Mill Division Director of Quality & Technical Services will have direct responsibility for a team of approximately 20 employees, consisting of Quality and Technical Resources, Continuous Improvement and Research and Development. Through collaborative leadership, the leader will ensure successful deployment of Quality, Six Sigma, and Lean methodologies across divisional operating and service locations. The deployment comprises training, champion level coaching and mentoring, reporting performance scorecard measurements of success, driving excellence in application of tools and methods.  The position is responsible for the implementation of the Quality System at each respective facility and the development of policies, procedures, supporting systems to drive world class quality performance.  It will lead the integration of the Voice of the Customer with the quality strategies to drive quality performance at the customer for the division.  The position will ensure best practices are effectively communicated and implemented across BU and service processes and focusing on the businesses Annual Improvement Projects.  The position is an integral part of the business unit leadership team as well as the Graphic Business Systems’ leadership team.

     

    JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

    • Responsible, with Business Unit Executives, to develop and deliver the Continuous Improvement Strategy to achieve business goals and objectives for cost reduction ($20MM-35MM annually) and achieve Continuous Improvement plans through the enhancement of the organizations’ culture.
    • Develop and implement a plan to bring all sites into compliance with the corporate quality system.
    • Understanding VOC results and initiatives and integrating that into innovative quality systems and quality management technology to drive growth.
    • Responsible to facilitate cross business unit and functional groups together to develop comprehensive world class quality policies and procedures.
    • Leads, develops, and manages Quality KPI’s (scorecards) to measure the effectiveness of our quality systems and ensure alignment with evolving market place conditions (VOC).
    • Functional responsibility for all mills’ Quality/CI Managers.
    • Responsible for Mill Division Research & Development, including executing and analyzing pilot coater studies to understand potential impacts of various coating formulations.
    • Responsible for optimizing mill coating formulations, ensuring R&D approval for all mill coating changes.
    • Provide board analysis and recommendations for Graphic Packaging and our customers.
    • Build a sustainable culture of continuous improvement through organizational development plans to align and engage the total organization on optimization of our total value chain.
    • Lead strategic level projects to improve the value stream performance of our key business product streams.
    • Lead the organization on Continuous Improvement Methodologies and responsible for providing Continuous Improvement training across the business unit (KT, Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)
    • Process owner for developing and implementing standard CI methodologies and materials to advance the Continuous Improvement objectives of the organization.
    • Responsible for reporting and communicating progress of continuous improvement and quality results, both execution status of all projects, process capability and Quality, RCM and Technical Training deployment scorecards.
    • Facilitates the application and prioritization of Continuous improvement activities through linkages with BU leaders, Service and Administrative Business leaders and site leadership teams.
    • Participate in the strategy development of Continuous Improvement, Quality and Lean for the business unit and Graphic Business Systems.
    • Play a leadership role in the development and execution of other Corporate Graphic Business Systems strategies including: culture, succession planning, etc.
    • Other duties as assigned.

     

    BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

    • Quality systems training
    • Significant experience facilitating and training.
    • Packaging industry experience desirable.
    • A minimum ten (10) years increasingly responsible hands-on manufacturing industry experience, including at least seven (7) years of operations leadership experience.
    • Lean Manufacturing Deployment/Transformation experience

     

    EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

    • Four year degree preferred (ideally with engineering, business management, or operations focus).
    • Compensatory closely related work experience required in lieu of degree.
    • Master Black Belt certification preferred

     

    SPECIFIC SKILLS:

    • Must have excellent leadership skills and be able to lead in a fast-paced environment.
    • Dynamic, flexible team player with demonstrated ability to lead and develop others.
    • Excellent facilitation, communication and presentation skills.
    • Training experience required.
    • Proficient with Minitab, MS Office Suite
    • Self-starter.
    • Strong organizational skills.
    • Ability to travel as needed.

     

    SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

    • General schedule is an 8-hour M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.

    • UP TO 50% OVERNIGHT TRAVEL TO INCLUDE FLYING, DRIVING, RIDING OR BY RAIL.

     

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 8-hours.
    • Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs.
    • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
    • Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.

  • Qualifications

    MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Sweep, vacuum, mop floors in offices, bathrooms and throughout the building
    • Dust and wash walls, clean baseboards, etc
    • Remove stains from walls and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions
    • Participate in locating lost guests in building when codes are called
    • Conduct deep cleaning of galleries and back of house areas on a schedule
    • Report to spills and accidents in a timely manner to quickly address cleaning needs
    • Must be self-motivated and work well independently
    • Operate equipment such as a boom life, forklift, power washer, carpet cleaning machine, etc.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Task Force Manager

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • High School diploma or G.E.D. certificate preferred
    • Previous experience in facilities cleaning desired.
    • Friendly, outgoing and proactive approach
    • Ability to work as a member of a team
