    In conjunction with respective Pathologist, plans, evaluates, directs and manages functions of anatomic pathology services for Truman Medical Centers.  Supervises technical personnel assigned to Cytology, Histology, Gross Room, Frozen Section Rooms, Mohs lab and Morgue.  Responsible for the overall proper functioning and work assignments in these sections of the laboratory.  Establishes and maintains a system where work and test results are checked for accuracy and timeliness.  Maintains supplies, monitors cost, monitors quality.  Establishes and maintains a system for routine and preventive maintenance on equipment and troubleshoots problems.  Ensures compliance with standard of the American College of Pathologists, The Joint Commission, and Hospital Licensing Standards.  Works under general direction of the System Director of Laboratory Operations and the assigned pathologist(s).

    Required Skills

    • Requires ASCP or equivalent certification as a Histotechnologist or Cytotechnologist
    • A minimum of three years full-time experience in the accredited discipline
    • Excellent verbal communication skills required to interact with other hospital personnel
    • Strong organizational skills required to organize and coordinate various staff and duties
    • Excellent communication and problem solving skills
    • Ability to analyze complex situations, pose solutions and work collaboratively to resolve issues
    • Writing skills and computer aptitude required to prepare a variety of reports
    • Requires good verbal and written communication skills
    • Must be able to speak, read and understand the English language
    • Must have the ability to lift up to 25 pounds
    • Must be able to stand for long periods
    • Must be available to rotate shifts and work weekends and holidays, if required
