  • Responsibilities

    MISSION / SUMMARY:

    Responsible for Purchasing in support of Maintenance and operational functions at the Wausau facility.  Responsible for SOX knowledge to ensure we comply with internal/external audit requirements.

    Serves as a point of contact for the cleaning personnel, cafeteria, uniforms, and other vendors that come into the storeroom.  Work with corporate finance, supply chain and with the Plant Controller at the Wausau Plant.  Manage inventory in maintenance/parts storeroom, chemical supplies, and operational supplies. Purchasing and manage accounts payable and ensures goods are received timely and accurately, coordinates goods receipts and storeroom inventory cycle counts – daily.  Research and analyze various parts for the plant, sets up new vendors as needed and works with maintenance team.   

     JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include but are not limited to the following.

    • Utilize SAP to generate requisitions, PO’s, follow-up with work flows and ensure that they are accurate.

    • Responsible for purchasing a variety of production supplies, with the exception of board and ink.

    • Responsible for maintaining access to our supply vending machines and creating reports to fulfill low stock.

    • Work with maintenance department and production to obtain necessary materials, parts, etc, to repair, operate and maintain equipment.

    • Add new parts to the storeroom in SAP following corporate guidelines (location, part #, price, quantity)

    • Responsible for monthly reviews of purchased items and purchase card reconciliation

    • Work with maintenance personnel to include hourly maintenance, project engineer, maintenance planner, finance, maintenance & engineering manager and storeroom clerk and other plant personnel for ordering supplies.

    • Meet with vendors and contractors as required.

    • Accountable for tracking and eliminating parts.  Accountable for parts usage and reviewing and adjusting storeroom inventory based on use and lead times.

    • Manage Purchase Order system and ensures necessary approvals are obtained.

    • Add new parts to the SAP system.

    • Responsible for understanding and adhering to all GMP, safety, food safety, SQF, HACCP and food defense procedures (training will be provided)

    • Participate in Lean Continuous Improvement Events.

    • Performs other duties as assigned by the Plant Controller and Maintenance & Engineering Manager.

    Required Skills

    EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS:

    • Associate degree in related field.
    • Minimum of 3-5 years or more experience in purchasing/account management in a manufacturing organization.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Outlook and internet.
    • Proficient with SAP systems.
    • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
    • Ability to develop improvements, achieve budget/cost constraints.
    • Solid Budgeting and negotiating skills
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks & resources in a fast-paced environment.
    • Leader with exceptional communication skills, good organization, and the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.

     SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

    • General schedule is 7-4 p.m.
    • Need to physically be on site.

     PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs at a time.
    • Ability to move around the plant to direct resources.
    • Ability to climb ladders and stairs as needed.
    • Ability to stand for long periods of time
    • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 9-hours.
    • Occasional bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling and twisting required
    • Simple and power grasping with both right and left hands is required
    • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
