    The Unit Clerk functions as an integral part of the health care team as a primary contact for patients, visitors, and staff. The Unit Clerk must be able to demonstrate professional communications skills including speaking, listening, reading, and writing while serving as a receptionist in answering the telephone, relaying messages, responding to the intercom system and greeting internal and external clients in a friendly outgoing manner. The clerk obtains, prepares, and organizes medical records according to departmental standards; as well as, maintaining supplies and equipment as determined by the need of the department.

    Required Skills

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Good verbal and written communications skills
    • Ability to speak and read the English language
    • Inpatient Mental Health Services must obtain PRO ACT training within 90 days of hire and maintain training during employment

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Prior experience as a unit clerk
    • Knowledge of medical terminology or course work in medical terminology
