Truman Medical Centers Lakewood specializes in high-risk maternal and child care, and serves as one of the few Kansas City metro area institutions accredited by The Joint Commission in Orthopedics and Palliative Care.

    The WIC Clinical Dietitian evaluates, participates nutritional and medical information to determine Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program eligibility. Develops individual care plans for participants qualifying for the WIC program and presents classes on nutrition to WIC participants. Work is performed under the general supervision of the WIC Program Director.

    Required Skills

    • Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from an ADA approved institution required
    • Must be registered with the American Dietetic Association within 6 months of hire date. (Registry eligible status is required)
    • Missouri licensure is desirable within one year of hire date
    • Two years of experience in clinical dietetics and/or community dietetics desirable. Verbal communication skills required to interview clients and discuss nutrition care plans and explain nutritional information
    • Group teaching at various learning levels required
    • Computer skills necessary (i.e. word processing and data entry)
    • Written communication\skills required to prepare reports and educational materials. Ability to speak to small and large groups of individuals desirable
    • Good interpersonal skills to communicate with patients, families, etc.
    • Ability to drive to corporate and community facilities
    • Bilingual competency is preferred
