The Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner is a specially trained registered nurse who provides timely, compassionate care to patients who report a sexual assault. Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners collect forensic evidence, give prophylactic medication for prevention of sexually transmitted infections and pregnancy, provide individualized referrals for appropriate medical and psychological follow up as well as court room testimony when needed.

Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners are expected to respond to the Emergency Department at TMC-HH within 60 minutes of dispatch, have a flexible schedule with available call time on days, nights, and/or weekends, attend 80% of staff meetings, complete SANE training as well as annual TMC required skills and competencies, have access to email, and reliable phone and transportation.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• ADN in Nursing
• Current State of Missouri Nursing license is required.
• Completion of the initial state SANE-A (Adolescent/Adult) training along with clinical skills training prior to hire.
• The applicant will possess one year’s medical/surgical experience or a minimum of one year of prior experience in the specialty area for which the candidate is applying.
• Requires good interpersonal, problem solving, and compassionate qualities, as well as the ability to work autonomously.

PREFERRED

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
