The Health Sciences District is also home to the University Health building , TMC’s beautiful specialty outpatient clinics and day-surgery center.     TMC/UH LAKEWOOD is located between Kansas City and Lee’s Summit, Missouri, offering residents of Eastern Jackson County access to a modern community hospital with a continuum of outpatient services designed to meet the needs of families.  TMC/UH Lakewood specializes in high-risk maternal and child care, and serves as one of the few Kansas City metro area institutions accredited by The Joint Commission in Orthopedics and Palliative Care. It also is home to a 188-bed, fully accredited long-term care center.

     

    TMC/UH BEHAVIORAL HEALTH is the KC metro area’s largest, most comprehensive provider of mental health services. The HEALING CANVAS BUILDING, located in Kansas City’s vibrant Crossroads Arts District, is its epicenter, providing a broad list of outpatient services. We also offer psychiatric inpatient care, and we deliver therapeutic services through our community outreach clinics. We are a leader in the Trauma-Informed Care Movement, and provide training, coaching and consulting to outside organizations.

     

    According to established procedures, cleans and services building areas. Moves furniture, equipment, and supplies, in and around hospital departments; and performs a variety of environmental services duties to maintain the hospital in a neat, orderly, and sanitary condition in accordance with safety and infection control standards.  

     

    This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement. 

    Required Skills

    Minimum Requirements

    • Good communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to speak and read the English language
    • Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, patients and visitors.
    • Ability to lift and/or carry up to 50lbs on a consistent basis – sometimes additional weight on an infrequent basis.
    • Ability to correctly operate electric and battery powered floor care equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
    • Ability to read and understand labeling directions on various cleaning chemicals in order to know contents and first aid instructions.
    • Ability to past competency assessment upon completion of training and mentoring program 30 – 60 days of hire into the position.

    Preferred

    • High School diploma or GED
    • Experience in a health care environment
    • 6 months experience in Environmental Service duties in an institution.
