    Performs phlebotomy procedures, schedules tests and conducts test procedures. Cleans laboratory equipment as necessary and assists in clerical duties of the department, such as answering phones and ordering supplies. Performs duties in an independent manner with little or no direct supervision.

    Required Skills

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Verbal communication skills required to explain procedures to patients
    • Knowledge of human development process and ability to work effectively with patients of all ages required
    • Writing skills required to maintain various records
    • Ability to order tests and/or test results on a computer terminal required
    • Must have physical ability to walk long distances for long periods of time, lean across the bedside to draw blood, or to push a cart
    • Must be able to carry a phlebotomy tray and lift and carry a filled gallon bottle
    • Must be able to work weekend, holidays, and rotate various shifts, if needed
    • Certification in phlebotomy and course in medical terminology preferred
