    Serves as a front-line representative for Truman Medical Center by interviewing patients and/or other sources to obtain demographic and financial data relating to Social Security Disability programs and/or benefits and/or any other State/Federal programs.  Communicates health benefit regulations and patient financial obligation to responsible parties.

    Required Skills

    1. High school diploma or equivalent
    2. Must have experience as a Resource Counselor II or in an equivalent position for at least 12 months and obtained a “meets expectations’ on their last evaluation.
    3. Communication skills required to interview patients and families, to gather and exchange information with other hospital staff members, physicians, third party payers and resource persons.
    4. Requires experience as a RC II or experience in an equivalent position in another organization.
    5. Concise written communication skills and computer knowledge
    6. Excellent verbal communication skills to maintain effective working relationships with patients and hospital staff.

    Preferred:

    1. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products
    2. Knowledge of basic medical terminology. 
    3. Knowledge of State and Federal programs.
