    Job Description

    Tufts CTSI seeks a Data Analyst to partner with Project Managers, Principal Investigators, and Senior Statisticians to perform data management and analyses for research studies.

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Clinical Database Development. Contribute to the design of effective data collection forms. Develop and test data collection forms using electronic data capture (EDC) software (e.g., REDCap). Develop documentation of database structure, data dictionary and code book. Ensures that clinical databases comply with HIPAA regulations.
    • Clinical Data Management. Develop and implement procedures for data quality checks and communicate detail on data discrepancies with study staff. Coordinate and document data received from different sources. Support clinical research reporting for data review, quality-control edit checks, interim and final analyses. Complete database cleaning and database locks and prepare file for statistical analyses.
    • Data Analysis. Collaborate with researchers and senior statisticians to design study and trials, to develop analysis plans and protocols, and to conduct statistical analysis for grant proposals, research projects, manuscripts and presentations.
    • Data Training. Provides educational support and training to investigators and study site coordinators about data management for research studies.
    • Provides positive and effective customer service and contributing to teamwork within and between departments, divisions, programs and other organizations.

    JOB KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

    • Experience in web-based Electronic Data Capture (EDC) such as REDCap, and other data management tools.
    • Knowledge of, and experience with, application of statistical methods for analysis of biomedical data.
    • Programming capabilities in SAS and R are required; experience with Python or Stata is desirable.
    • Ability to work independently and as a part of a collaborative team.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

    EDUCATION:

    • Master’s degree in biostatistics, data science, or public health, or closely related field is required. Applicants without training in biostatistics will not be considered.

    EXPERIENCE:

    • At least 1 year of experience, preferably in a medical research environment, demonstrating the applicant’s ability to develop EDC, perform data management and data analysis.
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above, may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.
