Job Description
The Department of Radiation Oncology at Tufts Medical Center currently has an opening for a board certified or board eligible Medical Physicist. This world-class academic medical center seeks a candidate to join a team consisting of two board-certified medical physicists and one dosimetrist in a collegial and collaborative environment.
The Department of Radiation Oncology offers a variety of clinical services to a diverse patient population. Direct clinical tasks would include external-beam and brachytherapy clinical support and quality assurance (QA); Gamma Knife clinical support and QA; consultations with radiation oncologists and patients; active participation in incident learning and related process improvement; and patient-specific QA. Experience with treatment planning is desired. Additionally, the department houses a radiation oncology residency program. Contribution to the educational and research programs of the department is required.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate is self-motivated and has exceptional written and oral skills, work ethic, and interpersonal skills as needed to foster and maintain a positive work environment. Preference will be given to those with a Doctoral degree in Medical Physics (or closely related field), at least two years’ clinical experience in radiation therapy, and who have completed a CAMPEP accredited residency program. Suitable candidates will be considered for academic appointment at Tufts University School of Medicine.

Our department is equipped with a Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator, an Elekta Synergy-S linear accelerator, an Elekta Icon Gamma Knife for SRS, an Elekta / Nucletron V3 HDR Ir-192 remote afterloader with Oncentra TPS, a Philips Brilliance Big Bore CT simulator, Philips Pinnacle TPS, and Elekta MOSAIQ record-and-verify electronic health record. We maintain an assortment of Sun Nuclear dosimetry and QA equipment, including SunCHECK Machine, ArcCheck, and ICProfiler. Our department staff includes 4 attending physicians, 9 radiation oncology residents, 3 nurses, and 5 radiation therapists. Tufts Medical Center is the primary teaching entity for Tufts University School of Medicine and conducts innovative clinical research.
