Job Description
The Student Nurse Entry Program (STEP) is seeking the next generation of innovative and talented nursing leaders. Throughout the program, the STEP Clinical Care Technician will:
· Become immersed in nursing professional development
· Receive opportunities to participate in shared governance
· Shadow and interview a nurse in a selected area of interest
· Attend monthly connection sessions with a peer and mentor support group
· Receive career-oriented guidance and participate in a mock RN interview
Upon successful completion of this program, STEP CCT participants will be able to interview for a Novice Nurse position with Tufts Medical Center.
STEP CCTS MUST COMMIT TO WORK 16 HOURS PER WEEK ON ROTATING SHIFTS (DAYS, EVENINGS, AND NIGHTS) WITH ROTATING WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS.
When hired into the STEP Program, the student nurse will work clinically in the role of the CLINICAL CARE TECHNICIAN: assisting in direct patient care, providing environmental support, and facilitating patient safety on designated unit and other units as needed. The Clinical Care Technician works under the supervision of the professional nurse and collaborates to meet the needs of the patient within the scope of the role. The Clinical Care Technician has successfully completed and maintains competencies in role specific skills. The Clinical Care Technician provides an environment supportive of the patient and family centered model of care.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
CLINICAL SKILLS Assists the professional registered nurse in the functional care of patients, ensuring efficient and patient centered care appropriate to the developmental age of the patient population. Performs delegated tasks and communicates all findings/concerns to the professional nurse.
