    Job Description

    The home unit for this position is the Pediatric Transport Team.

    Shift hours: 36 (Flex) Hours/Week: Rotating shifts, every other weekend and rotating holidays. Shifts may of the following rotating shifts:  7PM - 7AM and 7AM - 7PM and 11AM - 11PM

    The Pediatric Transport Team at Floating Hospital for Children has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Pediatric Intensive Care (PICU) or Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU) Nurse. This position is perfect for self-motivated individuals with a passion for outreach and collaboration!   The Pediatric Transport role is one that requires significant flexibility and adaptability due to responsibilities that require the full spectrum of pediatric specialty expertise. As a Pediatric Transport Nurse, you will serve in a combined transport and clinical resource role. This does mean that, when not involved with an active transport, the transport nurse will be expected to remain present in the unit with the greatest need for clinical expertise and support.   RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • The primary responsibility of the Pediatric Transport Team nurse is to collaborate with Floating Hospital for Children ICU and designated ALS teams to stabilize and provide nursing care to acutely and critically ill children and infants who require a higher level of medical care during interfacility transport;
    • Round with nurses in the various units, including: the NICU, PICU, Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant, and Inpatient Pediatric Units, to determine resource needs for the day;
    • Provide expert clinician support to bedside nursing staff;
    • Respond to all pediatric code blues and rapid response calls and directs nursing care during such acute events.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required, MS preferred
    • Current MA Registered Nurse license required
    • BLS certification required
    • ACLS certification preferred
    • PALS certification required
    • NRP certification required
    • Specialty certification preferred
    • Combined PICU and NICU background a plus
    • 2 years of Pediatric Critical Care experience or 2 years of Neonatal Intensive Care experience required; Applicants with 2 years of experience in a Pediatric ED at an academic medical center will also be considered.
    • The ability to triage calls and prioritize demands to make decisions within a rapidly changing clinical picture
    • Must be able to readily adapt to different environments and function autonomously while working with many teams
    • Crisis resource management experience preferred
