    Medical Assistant Job Summary: The Medical Assistant performs routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the offices of physicians and other health practitioners running smoothly. The Medical Assistant’s task list includes but not limited to:

    • Prepares patients for the health care visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the examining room.
    • Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; reviewing and/or recording medical history; taking vital signs; confirming purpose of visit or treatment.
    • Acts as liaison between doctors and support staff; mediating issues and problems as necessary.
    • Collects lab work following onsite training by the Medical Assistant trainer or the lab technician.
    • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
    • Monitors, maintains and stocks exam rooms
    • Complies with organizational and HIPAA policies and regulations to ensure patient care is kept confidential.
    • Cross trains and works other areas of the clinic to support departments and staff as needed.
    • Travels to alternate satellite clinics as required.

    Supervisory Responsibility:

    This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


    Medical Assistant Qualifications:

    • High School diploma or GED equivalent with Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant Certification, or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
    • Completion of all requirements in a recognized Medical Assistant training program or equivalent highly preferred.
    • 1 or more years of Medical Assistant, Medical Terminology or clinical experience highly preferred.

    Skills & Abilities:

    • Proficient in typing, spelling, punctuation, grammar, and oral communication.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
    • Knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology.
    • Organizational skills with focus on tracking patient care and improving patient flow.
    • Professional demeanor and recognition of privacy considerations for patients and families.
    • Detail oriented.
    • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
    • Strong computer skills.
    • Ability to work well whether alone or as part of a team.

    Work Environment:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a clinic setting.

    Medical Assistant Compensation & Work Schedule:

    • Full-time: 40 hours/week
    • Non-Exempt.
    • Day Shift Monday - Friday
    • No evenings or weekends.
