Herschend Family Entertainment (HFE) is seeking a QA/Release Manager to join our growing technology team supporting our theme parks and attractions in our mission of Creating Memories Worth Repeating®. This person will be responsible for maturing and leading our strategy to test and deliver high quality software products. This role promotes product quality, and organizational quality ownership through well-defined measurable processes, comprehensive quality assessment and identification of risk. The role is designed to bring together complimentary skill sets in the areas of QA testing and release management. Our ideal candidate is an execution-oriented thought leader who will work with our project teams to deliver functional quality assurance, load testing, automation testing, and release management. The right person for this position takes initiative, must be detail-oriented with strong analytical, organizational and communication skills.
This full-time role in our Property Support Center is located in Peachtree Corners, Georgia, and reports to the Vice President of Business Technology Solutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Software Quality Assurance ~70%
- Develops quality assurance (QA) test plans by identifying testing scope and approach and coordinating with project teams to define work plans, schedules, milestones, critical paths, and ensuring proper staffing.
- Defines and executes development, regression and load testing test cases using coding conventions, best practices and problem solving, for websites and web applications.
- Reviews work items and gathers test data requirements to support test case execution.
- Reports and tracks software bugs and/or unexpected software behavior including identifying and analyzing the root cause of complex bugs in your tests as well as others’ code.
- Performs risk analysis at project management or release level and addresses critical issues, dependencies, and risks related to testing and communicate to development teams.
- Coordinates releases with project teams and provides QA approval on release readiness.
Release Management ~10%
- Own the Release Management lifecycle; which includes scheduling, coordinating, documenting and management of releases across the enterprise.
- Lead and coordinate the release activities including the execution of the deployment plans and checklists.
- Coordinate and create effective stakeholder communications for releases to internal corporate business partners and property stakeholders.
- Measure and monitor progress to ensure application releases are delivered on time and within budget, and that they meet or exceed expectations.
Maturing Testing & Release Strategy ~20%
- Actively shares knowledge and experience through mentoring, test plan reviews, and documentation of technical and thought leadership.
- Develops guidelines and best practices to ensure test plans and timelines are aligned with project/program milestones with a pragmatic approach to testing.
- Leads the development of quality assurance (QA) test project strategies, methodologies, and standard processes for all QA domains to ensure testability and traceability.
- Continually work towards improving and automating the testing and release processes.
Required Skills
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical discipline (additional relevant experience may be substituted for education)
- 10+ years of experience working in formal delivery methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall & Hybrid) as a software tester who has developed test scenarios, test cases and test scripts
- Supports projects through the entire SDLC including design, development, testing, and production release
- Advanced software testing background through extended quality assurance experience including documentation, processes, manual testing, automation frameworks, quality assurance toolsets, and performance testing
- Experienced with JavaScript, XML, SOAP, SQL and monitoring tools like New Relic or Splunk
- Skilled in mobile app/UI/browser testing
- Proficiency with Azure DevOps tool set (including Test Plans) preferred
- Knowledge of release management practices
- Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills
- Creative thinker with a vision
- Adaptable to competing demands, organizational changes, and new responsibilities
- Ability to triage issues, react well to changes, collaborate with others
- Must be an effective multi-tasker comfortable working on multiple products and projects.
