  • Responsibilities

    Toms River Surgery Center is a multi-specialty outpatient surgery center. In light of the current COVID-19 pandemic, we are responsibly managing the flow of traffic within the surgery center in order to continue to provide a safe and comfortable visit for all visitors and patients. We are adding an essential staff member to ensure our safety measures align with the CDC recommendations. Their responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following guidelines:

     

    •  Adhere to the established COVID-19 office management plan that includes patient flow, triage, treatment and design

     

         •   Perform temperature checks/controls to reduce or eliminate exposures by shielding staff and other patients from infected individuals

     

         •   Provide hand sanitizer, faceshields/goggles and/or gloves or assist in rescheduling where appropriate

     

    •  Manage the safety checklist of the center to prepare surgical offices for COVID-19 safety measures

    •  Ensure adherence to standard precautions, including airborne precautions and use of personal protection equipment

    •  Assume that every patient is potentially infected or colonized with a pathogen that could be transmitted in a health care setting

    • Implement mechanisms and policies that promptly alert key facility staff including infection control, health care epidemiology, facility leadership,      occupational health, clinical laboratory, and frontline staff about known suspected COVID-19 patients.Keep updated lists of staff and patients to identify those at risk in the event of an exposure.

    • Educate patients and visitors about safety measures

    • Review proper office and medical cleaning routines. Perform routine cleaning and disinfection procedures are appropriate for SARS-CoV-2 in health care settings, including those patient-care areas. Employee will use products with emerging viral pathogens claims that are recommended for use against SARS-CoV-2. They may also manage laundry,food service utensils, and waste used/produced in the patient sitting area and perform proper sanitation protocol in accordance with routine procedures.

     

     

    Required Skills

    • Comply with company policies, procedures, practices and business ethics guidelines.
    • Complete job required training.
    • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations, (e.g. HIPAA, Stark, OSHA, employment laws, etc.)
    • Work in the surgery center during business hours
    • Travel independently throughout the surgery center; frequent bending, lifting, standing, stooping or sitting for long periods of time may be required
    • Work at an efficient and productive pace, handle interruptions appropriately and meet deadlines
    • Communicate and interact in a respectful and professional manner to all visitors at the surgery center
    • Prioritize workload while being flexible to meet the expectations of the daily operations
    • Apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
    • Understand and execute a variety of instructions
    • Effectively operate equipment and communicate on and operate the phone system
    • Work independently with minimal supervision

    Required Experience

    • High School diploma/GED or equivalent; higher healthcare-related degrees will be considered as well
    • Medical terminology preferred
    • Customer Service experience
    • Administrative or Medical Office experience preferred
    • Current certification in basic CPR for Healthcare Professionals (BLS) or completed upon hire.
