The primary functions of the Security Assistant is to operate the metal detector, provide security assistance at the bump-out location and issue visitor passes to those requesting access to the emergency department and inpatient units after normal open hours.  Additionally, the Security Assistant provides security services to ensure safety of patients, staff, visitors and property; performs a variety of duties related to patients, guests and clients entering, leaving, and maneuvering the buildings and grounds at Truman Medical Center; monitors the conduct of clients while at Truman Medical Center, and reports any unusual activity to the Security supervisor.  Utilizes good customer service in the discharge of duties.

Required Skills

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Experience providing customer service
• Writing skills to complete forms and write reports
• Good verbal communications skills
• Must be able to obtain a Private Officer Commission with Kansas City, Mo PD during department new-hire orientation and maintain it for continuation of position assignment

Preferred Qualifications

• Work experience in a security department
