    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Vallen’s Supply Chain Service Supervisor (Supervisor VMI) is a staff management position responsible for providing training and mentorship to other VMI employees. Supervises the work of others to ensure proper client coverage and support for vendor managed inventory sites. Supervise VMI associates in receiving, storing, distributing and order fulfillment of merchandise, products, materials, parts, supplies and equipment.  Leads associates in performing timely inventory control, or critical parts availability, material handling, customer warehousing and shipping/receiving activities and maintaining inventory at customer designated sites.  Works with Vallen leadership by assisting with capital expenditures (ie vehicle purchases, maintenance, or leases).  Follows proper guidelines for use of all equipment.  Ensures vehicle and equipment are clean, safe and kept in working order.  Ensures the collection and submission of applications for VMI associates driver qualification process.  

     

     ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Staff management duties include, but are not limited to interviewing, selecting, coaching, training, delegating work assignments while enforcing company policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
    • Provides direction to VMI associates according to established policies and management guidance. Administers company policies that directly affect associate’s contribution to the success of VMI.
    • Review reporting, support management in the execution and improvement to meet and exceed customer and internal service KPIs.
    • Working knowledge of Vallen’s Flexible Procurement team capabilities and support. Understands all Vallen’s VMI and Vending Machine orderings. Ability to repair and maintain VMI and vending machines in the field.
    • Partners with FPS and Sales team to implement new customers, manages the material load and installation of VMI and vending on site at the customer’s location.
    • Create and maintain Supply Chain Service Specialists territory plan, maximize time through schedule optimization, and manage coverage requirements
    • Ensures VMI associates are authorized to drive company commercial vehicles to transport and deliver goods to designated locations in a safe manner and in compliance with all State and Federal DOT standards and regulations.
    • Lead inventory audits, cycle counts and solving the root cause of inventory discrepancies. Supervise associates in performing timely inventory control, or critical parts availability, material handling, customer warehousing and shipping/receiving activities.  Verifies the accuracy of shipments to the customer.
    • Aids associates in performing timely inventory control, or critical parts availability, material handling, customer warehousing and shipping/receiving activities. Establishes inventory auditing schedules (daily, weekly, monthly, annually); delegate daily associate work/audit assignments.
    • Provides statistical and analytical data to management staff from which business decisions are made; furnishes reports to forecast estimates and schedules of goods in process and needs for future production or use; conducts analyses of inventory levels and coordinates with production and/or sales requirements.
    • Runs discrepancy reports daily; visually verifies entries and adjusts/correct discrepancies.
    • Analysis customer usage reports: makes recommendations when products should be VMI or spot buy usage.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

     

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS: 

    Education requirement:   High School diploma and 7+ years of relevant supply chain management, logistic/distribution experience.  4+ years of supervisory experience leading a team.    Preferred:  Associate degree + 5 years of relevant supply chain management, logistic/distribution experience. 2+ years of supervisory experience leading a team.

    Relevant experience should include:

     

    • Valid driver’s license that complies with Vallen’s standards.
    • Must possess the ability to act as a facilitator and team leader
    • Ability to work on assignments requiring considerable judgment and initiative.
    • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work with little supervision.
    • Must possess excellent customer service skills.
    • Determine methods and procedures on new assignments.
    • Demonstrated ability to get the job done correctly and in a timely manner.
    • Ability to establish strong working relationships with co-workers and management.
    • Knowledge of company products preferred.

    STAFF MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY:

    Immediate supervision over a unit, section or department where the majority of the time is spent assigning, reviewing, checking work and eliminating ordinary difficulties. Recommends candidates for hiring, termination; prepares and conducts performance appraisals and salary reviews, and applies company policies.

     

    TRAVEL: 50%
