    TMC/UH LAKEWOOD is located between Kansas City and Lee’s Summit, Missouri, offering residents of Eastern Jackson County access to a modern community hospital with a continuum of outpatient services designed to meet the needs of families.  TMC/UH Lakewood specializes in high-risk maternal and child care, and serves as one of the few Kansas City metro area institutions accredited by The Joint Commission in Orthopedics and Palliative Care. It also is home to a 188-bed, fully accredited long-term care center.

     

    TMC/UH BEHAVIORAL HEALTH is the KC metro area’s largest, most comprehensive provider of mental health services. The HEALING CANVAS BUILDING, located in Kansas City’s vibrant Crossroads Arts District, is its epicenter, providing a broad list of outpatient services. We also offer psychiatric inpatient care, and we deliver therapeutic services through our community outreach clinics. We are a leader in the Trauma-Informed Care Movement, and provide training, coaching and consulting to outside organizations.

     

    In this position you will conduct physician prescribed treatments, respiratory treatments, and testing of a routine nature. Will also operate Intermittent Positive Pressure Breathing (IPPB) machine, various nasal oxygen devices, and a hand-held nebulizer or metered-dose inhaler in order to administer prescribed medicinal vapors and gases, humidity, and various oxygen concentrations to the respiratory system of the patient. Perform chest physical therapy treatments involving percussion, postural drainage, and suctioning in order to loosen and mobilize secretions and mucus in the lungs and to clear airway blockage in the respiratory system. Additionally you will perform therapeutic Blood Gas Lab duties, patient education/consultation, and provide accurate charting.

    Required Skills

    • High school diploma or the equivalent and graduation from an AMA approved respiratory therapy program required
    • Must be registered with the National Board for Respiratory Care
    • Must have and maintain current BCLS certification
    • Must be licensed by the State of Missouri as a respiratory care practitioner
    • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unaided
    • Must be able to stand for long periods of time and walk great distances during work shift
