    POSITION DESCRIPTION Individual will be accountable for Database administration and Operational Support of Microsoft SQL Server environments as a team member of multi-platform Database Services team (MS-SQL, Oracle and MySQL) providing technical solutions for Optum State Government applications. A typical day will involve standard SQL Server DBA duties like applying SQL Server patches, supporting database backups and restores, working on any performance tuning requirements, and live monitoring of databases. An individual in this DBA role will also work closely with application support and development teams to refine their SQL scripts and assist in application release deployments and support any database break-fix type requests. On a day to day basis, DBA will be on point to run database health checks and troubleshoot/remediate any findings. On a project basis, apply patches and upgrades of current SQL Server lower version environments to latest version will also be in-scope for DBA duties in this position. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Participate in 24x7 Production on-call support
    • Installation, administration and configuration of SQL 2016/2014/2012 and other supported lower version (above 2008) of Microsoft SQL Servers
    • Able to perform Backup/Recovery of Databases
    • Administer HA (high availability) and DR (disaster recovery) solution as well long term archival process.
    • Experience on automation and PowerShell scripting to build infrastructure for automation.
    • Experience on different type of database backup, replication, recovery, restoration, solutions.
    • Excellent knowledge in other RDBMS and cross platform technology concepts.
    • Knowledge on Azure or cloud based solutions on SQL platform, supporting key business initiatives.
    • Experiences on BI, Data ware housing architecture and implementations
    • Design, implement and maintain all functions of database systems, including access, methods and time, device allocations, validation checks, organization, security, documentation and statistical methodology.
    • Assists in development of systems and procedures affecting database management, design and maintenance
    • Support problem resolution; consult and advise in application design and tuning; plan, organize and execute product benchmarks for threshold and functionality
    • Participate in product evaluations, design review session, data requirement meetings and consulting with application development products
    • Performance Tuning
    • Administer SQL Server Security and User management
    • Review ongoing and proposed projects to identify opportunities for reuse and process improvement
    • Review technical documentation to verify compliance with client requirements and established architectural standards and guidelines

    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related computer discipline
    • Able to perform 24x7 on-call duty on a rotation basis
    • 5- 7 years of strong Microsoft SQL Server database administration experience
    • 5-7 years of production support experience
    • 5-7 Experience with relational databases, database structures and design, systems design, data management, data warehouse

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • MySQL experience
    • Power shell experience
    • Professional experience in the health care industry
    • Experience with administering SQL Server High Availability functionality
    • Strong experience with SQL Server Management Studio
    • Experience with SQL Server security, user management and permissions
    • Ability to prioritize, coordinate, and manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment
    • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
