Join us and you may end up staying for a career in which you can do your life's best work.(sm) UHG R&D is looking for an intern to help formulate and strengthen scientific arguments about how to implement genomics-guided medicine, particularly in the space of disease prevention. This will include assisting the Omics Research Team with the development of iron-clad position pieces grounded in scientific literature and tailored to multiple audience types (business, research, clinical, political). PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Help our core team develop a multi-year research program aimed at getting preventative omics in the clinic by leveraging technology, data analytics, and interventions
    • Identify emerging opportunities relevant to omics and prevention; stay current with developments in the field
    • Dive into the relevant literature with a critical eye, incorporate data from multiple sources, and synthesize literature reviews and internal position papers based on your findings

Your primary mentor will be Dr. Taryn Hall, a Principal Research Scientist on the Omics Research Team and you will also interact with members of the broader UHG R&D team in Ventures, Operations, and Data Science.     • Currently enrolled in a relevant masters or doctorate program (genome sciences, public health, bioinformatics, medicine, nursing)
    • Writing sample that demonstrates your ability to read, understand, and communicate the results of scientific findings (e.g., literature review, thesis paper excerpt)

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Foundational understanding of the healthcare ecosystem.
    • Interest or experience with translational medicine research
