SBHS has a full-time Verbal De-escalation Specialist position available. The candidate selected will be responsible for the following: The De-escalation Specialist is a member of the interdisciplinary team who assists in total consumer care through implementation of appropriate therapeutic approaches within the therapeutic milieu. The De-escalation Specialist will provide direct therapeutic care to children and adolescents who are in psychiatric crisis to intervene and stabilize behaviors. Core Duties are: Report to and lead behavioral interventions with consumers in crisis Assesses crisis situations and determines the appropriate level of intervention required Ensure appropriate CPI techniques are being used Debrief with staff after interventions :: Job Requirements EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelors Degree or college courses in health care, mental health, recreational therapy, education, or human growth & development is preferred. Three year experience working with children and/or adolescents is preferred.
