    Summer 2019 Administrative Internship Posting expires on 12/07/2018 Employer: University of Colorado Hospital Located in: Aurora, Colorado Degree Required: Other The University of Colorado Hospital Administrative Internship Summer 2019 The Internship Program The University of Colorado Hospitals Administrative Internship is a 10-12 week, paid full-time program designed to provide graduate students a comprehensive learning experience at one of the nations premier hospitals. Program participants will be exposed to hospital operations and leadership through project-based work. Project opportunities will vary and reflect both the participants learning goals and the needs of the hospital. Developed a value stream analysis process and piloted for Allergy, Advanced Lung Disease, and Neurology clinics ? Conducted assessment and gave recommendations for improving efficiencies in the Womens Care Center and Birth Center operating rooms ? Compiled and analyzed patient harm data to create a dynamic dashboard for quality improvement initiatives ? Created a discharge prediction model to assist frontline staff in predicting, which patients will be discharged at what time ? Developed and conducted assessment of the Primary Care Redesign model to help prevent drift and improve PCR outcomes ? Conducted analysis of the Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT) program to help address inefficiencies, ultimately improving patient access and quality ? Conducted analysis on operating room turn-around-time to identify and eliminate waste using lean methodology. Frequently Asked Questions Who is in charge of the internship program? Tom Gronow, Chief Operating Officer at UCH, formally oversees the summer internship. However, interns are matched with preceptors at the director or VP level for their projects. When does the internship start? Generally, interns at UCH have a start date based on when the first year of their graduate program ends. In the past, intern start dates have ranged from early May or June to an end date sometime in August or September. When does the fellowship application process start? Fellowship applications are typically released in July of the internship summer and interviews are scheduled based off of the end date of the internship. Who is eligible to apply? Interns must be currently enrolled in an accredited business, health administration, or health-related masters program with graduation in or after December 2019. Is housing provided? Aside from being a paid internship, UCH does not formally arrange for housing for summer interns. As such, it is the responsibility of the interns to find housing upon accepting an internship position. Current and past fellows will provide guidance on how to go about finding a living arrangement. How many interns are hired for the summer? Previous cohorts have ranged from 10-12 interns. How To Apply We will be accepting applications now through December 7, 2018.
