JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for phlebotomy, electrocardiography (EKG's), and Holter Monitoring. Provides assistance in scheduling or office as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

1. Performs phlebotomy, electrocardiographs (EKG's), and Holter Monitoring. Provides assistance in office as needed.
2. Performs ordering of all laboratory tests for blood draws.
3. Prepares specimens for courier delivery to Laboratory departments or for send-out reference laboratories.
4. Receives outside specimens, forwards to laboratory.
5. Performs EKG's, explains procedures to patients; my be required to perform STAT EKG's; completes documentation; label strips.
6. Applies and removes Holter Monitors, completes documentation.
7. Maintains patient logs.
8. Performs order checking of laboratory requisitions.
9. Rotate to off-sites as required.
10. Maintains EKG and Holter equipment, reports malfunctions to supervisor.
11. Assists with clerical duties and registration duties, as required.
12. Stocks collection trays, maintains neat and clean workstation.
13. Strives to achieve excellence of service as described in the care manual.
14. Responds to the following Shore Health System codes: Code Red (in the immediate area), Code Pink (if called), Code D (if called).
15. Responsible for honest behavior in all matters. To the best of the employee’s knowledge and understanding, complies with all Federal and State laws and regulations.
16. Maintains the privacy and security of all confidential and protected health information. Uses and discloses only that information which is necessary to perform the function of the job.
17. Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Minimum of two years clinical experience including phlebotomy and EKG/Holter applications. CPR certification,

Phlebotomy certification is desired.
