Certified Nursing Assistant Course:

JOB SUMMARY: Attend scheduled classes/clinical rotations in a Nursing Assistant program approved by the Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON). The MBON approved course prepares you to safely perform delegated nurse functions with clients of any age and various levels of physical, sensory, motor, and emotional ability. Practice skills learned in clinical placement provides experience in acute care/hospital setting under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Maintains in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment, assists the patient care team to provide various patient care activities and maintains customer service focus essential for smooth operation.

Qualifications
Education & Training: High School diploma or equivalent.
**Work Orientation & Experience: ** Previous customer service experience preferred. Availability to attend training classes and clinical rotations.
Skills & Abilities: Ability to: a) read, write and comprehend medical terminology; b) effectively convey verbal and written information; c) follow directions; d) perform simple mathematical calculations correctly; e) respond to emergency situations appropriately; f) adapt hours of availability to variable and changing needs of the hospital, including all shifts; g) effectively function as a member of a collaborative team; h) organize and manage time effectively, setting appropriate priorities; i) comply with OSHA standards; and j) understands and respects importance of patient privacy and confidentiality; k) develops and promotes a constructive/positive atmosphere within the work area by demonstrating the ability to maintain cooperation with and assist fellow health team members, physicians, intra and inter-departments, hospital and nursing administration.

CNA Course Specifics
Both Lecture and Clinical Components to equal 40hrs/week
Lecture Hours on Site Monday through Friday 8am-430pm
Clinical Hours on Site 7am-330pm (Th & Fri starting week 3)
Successful Demonstration of 23 Learned Nursing Assistant Skills
