Job Description
1. Provides direct and indirect patient care as delegated by the RN or Licensed Practical Nurse adhering to standards of care and skills identified on a skills list.
2. Assists in maintaining a clean and safe patient environment and reports unsafe equipment or practice to RN.
3. Reports pertinent information to the RN and appropriately documents these findings in the patient's medical record.
4. Provides personal care and ADLs to patients with a variety of limitations.
5. Is flexible in the work schedule and floats to other units as assigned when necessary to meet appropriate unit staffing levels.
6. Functions cooperatively as a team member and contributes to quality improvement and cost control measures.
7. During a patient or environmental emergency, participates as directed by the Charge RN.
8. Makes patient rounds in a timely manner, providing for patient comfort, safety, and satisfaction.
9. Identifies own educational needs and participates in educational and other activities which will contribute to professional growth.
10. Communicates in a professional manner, demonstrating respect for patients/families/significant others and other health care members. Promotes patient satisfaction.
11. Participates in the development of annual goals.
12. Strives to achieve excellence of service as described in the CARE Manual.
13. Responds to the following Shore Health System codes: Code Red (in the immediate area), Code Pink (when called), Code D (when called).

Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent. Successful completion of Nursing Technician Training Course, documented evidence of comparable training and experience, e.g. Military Corpsman, senior student in an accredited school of nursing or graduate from an approved school of nursing with unsuccessful completion of the NCLEX Exam. Minimum of four years of Nursing Assistant or related experience in a nursing facility.
The employee in this position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on the age of the patients served. He/she must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status, to interpret the appropriate information needed to identify
