Qualifications
- Certification in Cytotechnology - Required
- Baccalaureate degree in Cytotechnology, Basic Sciences or other related field. If degree is in an allied field of study, completion of an accredited cytology program is required; or Certification in Cytotechnology by a certification agency approved by the American Society of Clinical Pathology.
- Before September 1, 1962, have successfully completed 2 years in an accredited institution (12 semester hours in science, 8 of which are in biology) and have 12 months training in an approved school of cytotechnology; or have received 6 months of full-time experience, or Before September 1, 1992, have completed a satisfactory grade in an Health and Human Services proficiency test for cytotechnologists
- Proficient knowledge of clinical laboratory processes, analytical procedures and various laboratory equipment including routine maintenance and calibration.
- Capable of independent judgment and decision making. Ability to troubleshoot, multi-task and solve problems.
