Job Description
Under general supervision, performs first line trouble shooting/triage on pharmacy system issues, located in pharmacy as well as nursing units. Answers service/request calls from the Pharmacy and interfaced departments, solves problems, and answers questions concerning hardware/software issues and takes a lead role in pharmacy projects and initiatives. The Pharmacy Diversion & Systems Data Analyst plays a key role on the pharmacy leadership team by supporting controlled substance diversion & Automated Dispensing system.

- Responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the controlled substance diversion system, including interpreting, investigating, analyzing, closing, escalating and reporting of controlled substance cases identified through the automated machine learning system.
- The analyst will be a key member of the University of Maryland Rehabilitation & Orthopaedic Institute Med Review Committee and will play a primary role in providing data for ad hoc investigations as needed
- Responsible for analyzing, interpreting and reporting on data from other pharmacy operational systems to improve processes and patient outcomes
- Diversion, operational and clinical data generated by the analyst will be used by the pharmacy leadership team to develop monthly dashboards and key performance indicators (KPI) focused on driving sustainable, improved quality performance across the pharmacy continuum of care
- This position requires strong analytical skills in gathering information from users, defining work problems and designing a system of procedures to resolve problems.
- Analysis data focused on inventory optimization in automated dispensing cabinets and analysis of wholesaler/pharmacy purchasing data to improve pharmacy financial performance.
- Responsible for overseeing the operation of all workstations and the narcotics CII safe. Directs the filling, emptying, and configuring of the dispensing units and also runs reports and monitors narcotic use. Completes data backup for the system and is the main narcotics operations technician for the director. Trains all technicians and pharmacists on the operations of the CII safe, Pyxis workstations and Pyxis.
- Perform audits on a scheduled basis; may involve presenting and resolving reconciliation issues as they arise during the monitoring and reconciliation process.
- Maintain copies of reports for compliance and audit purposes.
- Participates in special projects and testing for system upgrades.
- Provides first level problem analysis, responds to calls regarding Pharmacy hardware and software, escalates calls to relevant hospital department(s) and vendors when necessary for support and follow up.
