Job Description

The Transfusion Service Specialist is responsible to the Laboratory Director for the technical oversight of the Transfusion Service. Responsible for administrative duties in the Transfusion Service, to include, inventory control, patient and employee safety practices, continuing education programs, continuous quality improvement, and effective communication and professionalism.

Qualifications

Education

• Has earned a bachelor's degree in medical technology or clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution.
• ASCP certification required.
• Specialist in Blood Bank preferred.
• PC literate, able to utilize word processing and basic computer programs.

Experience

• Has a minimum of 5 years of laboratory training or experience. At least 3 years in high complexity testing for the specialty of blood bank preferred.
