    Job Description

    General Summary

    The equipment technician is responsible for performing essential non-patient care tasks associated with the smooth function of the Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Respiratory Care and Sleep Center Departments. Processes equipment according to established procedures. Procures and stocks approved supplies.

    Reporting Relationships

    Reports to Manager of Respiratory Care and Pulmonary Rehabilitation or his/her designee. Job requires moderate level of supervision. Follows general instruction and directions. Plans own time to a degree to meet pre-determined schedules.

    Qualifications

    High school graduate or equivalent required.

    Preferred Experience

    Respiratory Student in their second year of school

    Working Conditions

    Works inside a clean, well-lighted environment. May be exposed to frequent interruptions and demands. May be expected to work flexible hours, however primary hours will be day shift. Potential for regular exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials requiring the observance of Standard (Universal) Precautions and safe handling practices.

    Physical Requirements (per four hour shift)

    Standing, sitting, ascending/descending stairs and walking is required 0 - 4 hours per shift. Requires heavy lifting, carrying, pushing (on rollers up to 200 lbs.) and pulling (up to and in excess of 100 lbs.) 0 – 4 hours. Manual dexterity for adjusting equipment which includes reaching for, fingering, grasping and handling equipment/supplies 0 - 4 hours. Requires hearing/listening to differentiate sounds 0 - 4 hours. Visual acuity is necessary to read documents and test various instruments 0 - 4 hours.
