_ JOB SUMMARY:_

Under direct supervision, performs phlebotomy, specimen processing, clerical, accessioning, or laboratory assistant duties in the hospital, laboratory or other outpatient locations as assigned.

Qualifications

_ MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:_

• High School diploma or equivalent. Phlebotomy certification by a nationally accredited agency strongly preferred.
• Three months recent clinical phlebotomy or laboratory assistant experience preferred but will consider new graduate from a phlebotomy program.
• Excellent customer service skills required.
• The employee in this position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on the age of the patients served.
• He/she must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to recognize data reflective of the patient's status; to report the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs; and to provide the necessary care as described in the department's policies and procedures.
