Job Description
Demonstrates the ability to provide lactation management to expectant and new parents in accordance with hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures, and standards. Supports System and Nursing Strategic Plans, Relationship-Based Care, and Shared Leadership.
- Assists with planning, teaching and evaluation classes for expectant and new breastfeeding mothers.
- Conducts daily bedside lactation rounds.
- Consults with mothers having breastfeeding problems.
- Selects appropriate breastfeeding supplies for the patient use.
- Plans, organizes and delivers lactation management services to all breastfeeding patients.
- Demonstrates the ability to lead, organize and develop lactation programs.
- Conducts quality assurance programs to monitor the caliber of the program.
- Systematically and continually collects data regarding the health status of the client. The data is recorded, accessible and communicated to appropriate members of the Multidisciplinary Healthcare Team utilizing system policies, and procedures.
- Coordinates a comprehensive individualized plan of care for the client, significant other and healthcare provider to obtain expected outcomes partnering with the patient and family to identify and prioritize needs and care.
- Implements the plan of care in accordance with established policies, and procedures in a safe and appropriate manner.
- Determines both the client's progress towards the attainment of expected outcomes and the effectiveness of nursing care.
- Demonstrates ability in planning, delegation, and coordination of work group activities essential for the provision of quality nursing care. and supports opportunities for professional growth and development.

- Offers support and feedback to peers and staff. Applies principles of caring and healing in interactions with patients and families and with colleagues.
