Registered Nurse (RN) - Multitrauma Telemetry

This role is reserved for the new graduate or nurse with less than 12 months experience. The nurse will utilize this time to learn the institution and nursing practice. It is expected that a nurse in this role successfully pass the probationary period within 12 months (18 months maximum with a defined action plan developed with manager). Utilizes the nursing process as the frame of reference for practice as a professional nurse. Participates in activities to develop own practice, and to support group practice goals at the unit level. Functions effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team. Is accountable to patient, family and team members for care provided, and to the nurse manager for totality of work performance.
Multi Trauma Telemetry is one of 14 units in the world renowned R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. Multi Trauma Telemetry is a 12 bed Acute Care/Telemetry unit that provides high quality care to medically-complex trauma patients. As a specialty focused unit, Multi Trauma telemetry provides staff with the unique opportunity to treat clinically stable trauma patients and provide ongoing education to patients and their families. Patients on Multi Trauma telemetry require frequent monitoring and high-level nursing interventions. Most patients on this unit are on continuous telemetry and/or pulse oximetry monitoring. Multi Trauma Telemetry offers experience with cardiac monitoring, detailed assessments, post-operative wound/ dressing care, drain care, medication management, tube feeding, tracheostomy care, and in-depth collaborative patient care planning. Staff on this unit are empowered and highly encouraged to drive change on the unit, as well as within the organization through evidence-based practice and continued engagement within the organizational shared governance model. Patients on this unit are admitted with a variety of diagnoses and/or mechanisms of injury, providing vast learning opportunities.
