About the Program Are you a current nursing student and interested in seeing what being a nurse in the Operating Room (OR) is really like? In the Operating Room, SNIs will have the opportunity to collaborate among an interdisciplinary team of nurses, surgeons and anesthesia personnel to provide quality surgical care, learn to use specialized equipment, open sterile supplies needed for surgery, identify issues that place the surgical patient at risk and communicate effectively among the team, and learn specific needs related to age and disease process for the surgical patient. SNIs in the OR will have the opportunity to console and interview the surgical patients following AORN and The World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines. Note that attendance to the orientation of the program is mandatory; this years orientation will be held May 22-23.
