The Certified Instrument Technician coordinates and collaborates the overall cleaning, decontamination, assembly and dispensing of surgical instruments, equipment and supplies needed for daily surgical procedures and related departments.

Required Skills

1. Proficient in Hospital sterilization processes.
2. Knowledge of surgical instrumentation/tray assembly.
3. Ability to follow oral and written instructions and perform mathematical calculations.       
4. Effective oral and written communication skills.
5. Knowledge of English grammar and spelling.

Required Experience

A.  WORK EXPERIENCE:

     One year of sterile processing experience required or Certified Surgical Technician (CST) in an acute care setting or equivalent experience

B.  EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

1. High school graduate or equivalent.
2. Two years of college or technical school preferred.
3. College or technical school degree preferred.

 C.  CERTIFICATION:  

1. Current Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification required.
2. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
