TITLE: Quality Assurance Testing Analyst JOB OVERVIEW: The Quality Assurance Testing Analyst role provides detailed test planning and test execution coordination for VMC projects. The analyst must exhibit strong quality standards, attention to detail, strong knowledge of testing techniques, and clear vision of how to effectively test IT systems in a healthcare environment. Example IT systems include EMR, ERP, HR, SCM, and BI. The analyst works with the QA Program Manager to continually promote improvement in quality standards, procedures, policies, and best practices. The test analyst must promote and reflect the UW Valley Medical Center mission, philosophy and core values. AREA OF ASSIGNMENT: Information Technology HOURS OF WORK: As required to fulfill responsibilities RESPONSIBLE TO: Supervisor, IT Quality Assurance PREREQUISITES: Level 1: * Bachelor's Degree, with major in Computer Science or Information Systems preferred. * Minimum one (1) years of experience in software development, technical support, systems analyst, or Testing/QA roles preferred. * Experience with and development of functional, interface, integration, and user acceptance testing, preferred. * System analyst or equivalent experience with implementation or operational support of Epic Software, Infor/Lawson, or other IT enterprise systems preferred. * Experience with Test Management software, preferred. * Certifications related to software applications, technology infrastructure and/or clinical specializations, preferred. * Epic certification preferred. Level 2 (In addition to prerequisites of a Level 1): * Minimum three (3) years of experience in software development, technical support, systems analyst, or Testing/QA roles. * Minimum three (3) years of experience testing in all phases of IT development life cycle. * Current software application version training certification required. QUALIFICATIONS: * Practical experience working in central business office for projects related to financial information system implementation projects. * Practical experience delivering IT solutions for projects related to clinical information system implementation projects, preferred. * A demonstrated ability to work with computer systems, and personal computers. Competent with MS tools - SharePoint, Word, Visio, and Excel. * Thorough understanding of healthcare-focused software. * Experience with Healthcare Information Systems and Applications in large healthcare organizations and settings: e.g. insurance companies, large healthcare provider organizations, or software vendors. * Experience with creating queries and reports against a relational database. * Test automation experience, preferred. UNIQUE PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS, ENVIRONMENT AND WORKING CONDITIONS: Requires the ability to move PC's, printers, or boxes of paper weighing up to 20 lbs. Essential Responsibilities and Competencies: Level 1: * Develops master test plans and test case design templates and documents. * Designs testing strategy for singular projects as well as ongoing maintenance models. * Creates and maintains regression testing suites for key applications * Coordinates integrated testing execution * Maintains test and quality documentation according to departmental standards * Maintains and coordinates scheduling for Testing Lab. Assists with intake and resolution of new lab requirements. * Manages configuration and test case repository in test case management toolset. Educates and evangelizes IT staff on toolset. * Builds and maintains test documentation test repository, test data, and test environment configuration information. * Performs focused testing execution on high impact optimization changes * Supports test automation initiatives. * Performs Root Cause Analysis/Process Improvement for assigned projects * Expands QA knowledge base and templates * Supports QA Program Manager to establish and enhance training modules for toolset and processes. * Promotes QA standards to organization. Level 2 (In addition to responsibilities of a Level 1): * Educates and evangelizes IT staff on toolset. Designs and performs automated testing execution on changes. Supports test automation initiatives, designing and executing test suites. * Present at AC/Lead meeting, Change Board, or other governance group sessions. * Supports process improvements, incorporates changes to improve quality and customer satisfaction. * Understands relationships between system processes/programs, system parameters, files and data relationships for assigned projects. Able to troubleshoot basic testing issues. * Review and improve requirements to improve test process. Able to collaborate with teams to build integrated test scripts using QA test documentation toolset. * Conducts structured training sessions for assigned duties for small groups with minimal guidance. * Leads small testing projects.
